I paint daily and my medium is oil. Sometimes I use cold wax for my abstracts. I also use oil sticks for some added line work.  I am inspired by so much beauty around me that I can’t be in a "pigeon hole” so I go with my "intuition in the moment" in my studio. I live in Ogden Utah.  I use my photos from my adventures out and about so all paintings are done in studio.  I have ' essential tremor' and paint with two hands;  we all have something to overcome in pursuing the love of life,  some more than others. “

I can’t wait to start. Draw, scribble, drip, dry, slap it on, scrape it off. Freedom. Slap it on. Smooth it out. Transparent, opaque, smoky. Saturate it, desaturate it. Shape it, form it. Form less. I tell myself stories, meandering, disconnected, maybe meaning less or more:  She went over here under the heavy overhang, then ran across the road, but when she got there, I didn’t know what to do. Show kindness. Why not. At least don’t be cruel. Especially to animals. And people too. Did you see that yucca, the explosion of buttery petals and dead seed pods. The horny toad. Did you see the scribbly mass of desiccated spikes and roots - wild. The fluorescent lime green moss on the rust rock? Capture it. Not literally. Duh. What did they say? I don’t get why she hates me? Oh. I’ll just hide. Ahhh. More of this. I love it. Or do I! Maybe. Don’t think about it.

The artist was born in a large stone mansion in Michigan, situated between Chicago and Detroit, and grew up in the Midwest surrounded by creativity from an early age. Her father painted, while her mother danced—fueled by strong coffee and a love of chocolate. Art was not a discovery later in life; it was woven into her beginnings.

Phyllis Mantik de Quevedo is a sculptor and painter.  She is most widely known for her figurative sculptures. The inspiration for her current figurative series is flora and focuses on representing botanical forms through metaphors as they relate to human forms and human experiences.   Both human beings and flora contribute color and vibrancy and she is moved to capture and share expressive brief moments in time.

Sue Barrasi is an award winning artist whose work has been exhibited in juried, invitational, group and solo exhibits. She has been awarded grants and residencies and has been commissioned by publishers and advertising agencies to create artwork for postage stamps, book and magazine covers, posters and apparel. Her work has been juried into events around the country including Oil Painters of America, National Association of Women Artists, National Oil &Acrylic Painters Society and the prestigious Salmagundi Club. She has served as juror for National Juried Shows, teaches Adult and Children Painting classes in New York and New Jersey while painting commissions in her studio in Tappan NY.

Sandy’s artwork deals with shape, color and ideas, definitely with her own version of reality.  She works primarily in acrylic or watercolor with pen with ink. Another medium is oil-based ink in which she creates Monoprints on paper or canvas, a method learned from Shy Rabbit’s Michael Coffee – his reductive-ink process.  She often incorporates mixed media to create unusual effects.   She likes to have several series of different subject matter in the works at one time. This helps to keep her images and ideas fresh and lively.
