“ Rotation of my work in Studio each night. “ Destiny Bowman

My studio is my favorite place to be.  It’s where ideas flourish, problems get worked out, colors move on the canvas, and my many objects that I’ve collected gets put into my paintings.  I have collected skulls, bugs, vases, books, bowls, flowers and contraptions to use in my still life work.  I’ve really been enjoying using skulls in my recent work.  They are sculptural and beautiful.  The skulls can represent life and death simultaneously within a painting.  Using the skulls adds a wonderful natural and organic feel.

My studio is bright with tall ceilings.  It is very full of stuff.  I would call it maximalist.  I have little things, books and paintings on all walls.  I see some artist have very clean and minimal spaces, but I’m on the opposite side of the spectrum as far as that goes. I make my space as cozy as I can. Sometimes too cozy where I could easily become a hermit.  I’m sure I’m not the only artist that has to be dragged out of the studio.  I just love working for hours on a piece and seeing the progress.  I find that each painting goes through an ugly stage so when that stage passes and things start falling into place it’s so rewarding.  Destiny Bowman
