2022 Achieved Master Circle in International Association of Pastel Societies
A Master Medallion holder in the International Association of Pastel Societies, Barbara Archer-Baldwin and her husband John Baldwin relocated to Tucson in February, 2024 after living in Florida for over 25 years. She is an academically schooled professional artist with training at Rhode Island School of Design, Philadelphia University of the Arts, and Temple University's Tyler School of Fine Arts. She has been represented by the Four Corners Gallery in the Tucson Desert Art Museum since May 2024. Her work has been juried into three shows at the Phippen Museum, Prescott, AZ, since her relocation to Arizona. Painting the southwest has really expanded her muse.
In addition to achieving her Master Medallion in IAPS, she is a Signature Member of Pastel Society of America, as well as holding Signature status in Pastel Society of the West Coast, and Signature status in the Arizona Pastel Artists Association. She has been juried into the prestigious Salmagundi Club, NYC., and is a member of Women Artists of the West.
Her teaching experience is long and widely varied, though, since moving, she limits her teaching to one-day workshops. Her prolific work includes illustrations for published books and periodicals, works in oil, acrylic, pen and ink, pastel, and miniature art, and hangs in collections all over the world.
A top 5 Finalist in Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine’s Artist & Selfie Competition, 2020, in the Portrait of a Living Artist division, her work has been consistently juried into National and International Pastel Shows, winning awards in many of them.
She enjoys painting most genres, but her first love is still life, featuring vintage items which stir viewers’ memories. She also loves painting the local desert landscape, discovering the many vibrant colors of that world. Her painting style varies between realistic and impressionistic, depending on where each painting leads her.
Her hope is that her art will provide quiet moments of stillness and contemplation in collectors’ otherwise often hectic lives.
