Shelly J. Cox
Shelly J. Cox is a contemporary realist oil painter who lives and works in the horse community of Jupiter Farms, Florida, USA. She is a graduate of the Art Institute, Fort Lauderdale, Florida with a degree in commercial illustration, but she is a self-taught oil painter. Cox diligently works regularly with master artist mentors to advance her painting skills.
Cox loves creating paintings in her studio that reflect American western heritage, focusing on the more positive aspects of U.S. history. Each is set in a custom natural wood frame that is handmade by her husband, Greg Vandermeulen.
Cox has combined her love for painting the figure and portraits with education. She has a thriving YouTube channel that focuses on teaching portraiture and offers step-by-step painting tutorial videos.
Cox is a proud member of the Portrait Society Of America, Women Artists of the West, and Cowgirl Artists of America. She has been published in art books and has won several awards.
