"Seeing is a tactile experience—a journey in and amongst shapes, noticing the sensations of various textures, and feeling the warm and cool light as it dances with color."

Sascha Ripps

Sascha Ripps is a contemporary realist painter of landscapes, wildlife, botanical and floral themes.  She works in oil on panel with the goal of capturing the intensity of light, color, texture and the energy she feels from her subjects.  She blends elements of realism with abstraction, especially when zooming in on textures in her work.

Ripps studied art at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, and with several modern masters through workshops and apprenticeship courses.  She has taught art courses and workshops at an independent school in Colorado, and at the Austin Museum of Art, Texas, for students from age three to adults.  Her work has been juried into national art exhibitions and received awards.  Ripps’ paintings were featured in “Natural Wonders,” Southwest Art, February 2014; and “Places in Life,” Southwest Art, June 2014.
