Ran Wu
Ran was born in Taiwan. At a young age Ran showed an interest in the arts, so her parents sent her to study drawing, watercolor, and Chinese brush painting. As Ran grew into a young adult, she moved to the United States and eventually settled in Northern California. After putting her art on hold to build a career for herself and her family in the corporate world, Ran found the opportunity to return to her previous passion of painting and pursued becoming a fine artist.
Diving right back into it, Ran started by attending local art classes. To further develop her artistic skills, she enrolled in the MFA program at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. She also attended workshops and studied under the master artists Jove Wang, Kevin Macpherson, and Huihan Liu throughout the years.
Influenced and inspired by those masters, contemporary and past, Ran has developed her love in exploring colors and design, observing and extracting the beauty she sees and feels in her day-to-day life, and trying to capture the feelings of those touching moments through her art.
Ran is an active member of the top professional art organizations. She holds the Signature Artist membership at the Oil Painters of America (OPA), at the American Impressionist Society (AIS) and at the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association (LPAPA), as well as the Artist membership at the California Art Club (CAC). Ran's artworks have been juried into the most prestigious shows and won awards there, which include:
