A Western Artist featuring Paintings of Longhorns, Cattle, Cows, Ranching, Roping, Western Landscapes, Portraits and more.

"This is the west I know: Cloudless skies. Intense sun. Extraordinary heat. The home of cowboys, horses and cows. I am drawn to the details of today’s working cowboy and the livestock they manage. I travel to local ranches and small rodeos for inspiration. Bold graphic colors speak to me in depicting the modern cowboys and their everyday lives." - Mejo Okon

Bio and Galleries with Mejo Okon

Mejo Okon won the Artist Choice Award at the 18th annual CowgirlUp! 2023. Last year, she claimed the Best of Show Award at the Desert Caballeros Western Museum in Wickenburg, Arizona with her painting Glow. This show celebrates the best of women artists and is considered one of the top five Western Art Shows in the United States. 2023 marked her sixth year to participate in this extraordinary event.

Since settling in New Mexico, she has found endless inspiration in cowboys, ranches and the fabulous sunsets. This is the west I know: Cloudless skies. Intense sun. Extraordinary heat. I am drawn to the details of today’s working ranchhands and the livestock they manage. I travel to local ranches and small rodeos for inspiration.

Mejo is also courtroom sketch artist in Federal trials where cameras are not allowed. “One must be quick as well as accurate and always it’s fascinating to be part of the tableau.” In July of 2022, she was hired by ABC 20/20 to cover the murder trial of Pennsylvania dentist, Larry Rudolph. Zambia Safari Murder” is now streaming on Hulu. She covered another ABC 20/2-20 murder trial of Donte Lucas in 2021. It too is available on Hulu. In 2011 she covered the nationally reported trial of polygamist Warren Jeffs. This past May, Okon was actually hired on to play a courtroom artist for the movie “Coyote vs Acme” starring John Cena and Will Forte. The movie is scheduled to be released in the summer of 2024.
