Becky Lucht
Becky Lucht is a scratchboard artist. Her body of work reflects her ongoing love of animals, from horses and pets to wildlife, with a few fantasy creatures thrown in. They are generally rendered in the stark black and white of scratchboard, although she has been drawn to color versions of late.
Lucht is a graduate of Minnesota State University, Mankato with a degree in art. She worked in many mediums, from stone carving to pastels, before discovering scratchboard in 2019. Scratching and chipping away at a beautiful black board in search of the images to be found within has become mesmerizing to her. She feels driven to find the essence of each piece, without frills or lace.
Lucht is a past president of the 100 member Muskogee Art Guild, which promotes art in eastern Oklahoma. She is also a member of the International Society of Scratchboard Artists, Cowgirl Artists of America, and Women Artists of the West. Lucht exhibits her work with all of these groups.
